A Year to Celebrate

FSDB wordcloud image with the words in red and blue. Some of the larger words are FSDB, Patience, Resilience, Perseverance, Flexibility and Humbled.

For me, March 13th will be a day I always remember. This day last year is when, as an FSDB community, we walked together into the unknown. We made the commitment of continuing our school year through Distance Learning and working remotely. We created our Instructional Continuity Plan and developed new ways of teaching and working. Thank you for your ongoing support of your child and our school. Recently our staff members shared words that captured what they learned over the last year. Here is our FSDB 2021 word cloud.

One of the quotes that were shared also captured my thinking over this last year:

“I have learned to persist no matter what we are faced with, we will prevail!”

Accreditation Review Results

Last week, I received a copy of the Cognia Accreditation Engagement Review and I just about exploded with pride! We will be posting the findings of the review on our website in the near future, but for now, let me share the highlights. If you remember from my last video, there were three domains the accreditation review team looked at to determine if we were meeting the standards for accreditation: Leadership Capacity, Learning Capacity, and Resource Capacity. The results of each of those domains and performance standards are reported within four ranges and colors.

  • Red – Insufficient

  • Yellow – Initiating

  • Green – Improving

  • Blue – Impacting

How did FSDB do?

ALL BLUE!!!!! The external review team determined that FSDB demonstrated noteworthy practices producing clear results that positively impact the school and rated us as “impacting” in all three domains! Not only is this an incredible achievement, but we were able to demonstrate our ability during a pandemic and the first ever virtual accreditation visit. Something else I want to mention is the Index of Education Quality rating. The IEQ results are reported on a scale of 100 to 400. The average range of all Cognia Improvement Network institutions evaluated for the last five years was 278.34 – 283.33. The overall IEQ rating for FSDB was 392.50! Yes, we still have opportunities to improve, however, this is a tremendous accomplishment. Thank you to the parents who participated in the review, for supporting your child’s learning, for working collaboratively with the school, and for choosing us to educate your child. I am so very proud, and I hope you are too.

I hope you all have a wonderful Spring Break, have fun with your family, and find time to reflect on this past year and what you and your family has learned.

Sincerely,

Tracie C. Snow

President
