Trent Ferguson graduated from the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind in 2017. When he was born totally blind, his family was stunned. They had no early warning or family history of blindness. Even with a great and supportive family, growing up in the Sebring area – a small community in Central Florida – would be a challenge.

Trent came to FSDB in the third grade. In high school, he excelled academically and was a drummer and singer with the Outta Sight Band. Trent aspired a career in broadcasting. He worked with Flagler Broadcasting and St. Augutine's "Beach 105.5," where he recorded a "don't text and drive" campaign.

"I am honored to have graduated from FSDB. I would recommend this wonderful place to any blind or visually impaired student. The teachers go above and beyond to make sure the students succeed. In addition, the dorm staff make dorm life easy to adjust to if a student has never lived away from home in their lifetime. I learned so much in the independent living program. I was blessed to have staff that would take the time to make sure you accomplished tasks I needed to accomplish. FSDB will always have a special place in my heart."

Trent earned his AA degree from South Florida State College and is now attending the University of South Florida, majoring in Mass Communications. He continues to work in broadcasting, holding positions as the Assistant News Director & Sports Anchor at Flagler’s Morning News WNZF, the Color Commentator for the Matanzas High School Pirates and Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs Football programs, and the Co-host of Outta Sight Sports.
