Jacqueline-Provoost

Jacqueline Provoost 

Director of ESOL Services

Jacqueline has worked in ESOL public education for over 15 years.  She taught ESOL in Title 1 schools in both New York and Connecticut, and holds a Master's Degree in TESOL. She moved to Florida with her husband, and two children in 2021. There has been so many learning opportunities at FSDB and within the world of the deaf and the blind. She was drawn to the unique beauty and opportunity this school offers sensory impaired, multilingual/multicultural students.  Jacqueline loves getting to know the families she serves! 

Veronica Millan-Santeliz

Verónica Millán-Santeliz

ELL & Staff Translator

Veronica was born in Barquisimeto, Venezuela and immigrated to the United States with her mother in the early 1980s to Colorado. Veronica remembers arriving and being placed in a fifth-grade classroom without knowing English, but the rest is history! Since then, she has lived intermittently in both countries and has dual nationality. 

Veronica loves to cook and feed her friends and family. She loves the outdoors, traveling, swimming, and dancing. She has two sons, 29 and 16, who live in Colorado.

Maria Hernandez

ESOL Specialist

Maria was born in Cuba, but moved to the United States when she was two years old. She spent much of her early learning confused and silent. It wasn't until the 7th grade when Maria went from making poor grades to becoming an A/B student. She graduated top 5% in her class, earned a scholarship to attend Hillsborough Community College to two years. After which, she transferred to University of South Florida with a degree in Foreign Language Education.  Maria taught Spanish in Tampa and Miami for many years. She became the ESOL Specialist at FSDB in 2002. She has worked in both the blind and deaf departments, can read Braille and has an advanced level of proficiency in ASL! Her extensive experience and dedication make her a very valuable member of the ESOL Department!

Rank III-A Deaf ELL Teacher

Brianna is proud to be the newest D/HH ELL Teacher to join the ESOL team at FSDB. Brianna is a graduate of the University of South Florida American Sign Language Interpreting Program since 2019. Beginning her career in Deaf Education, Brianna has worked across multiple school districts in Florida, focusing on working with students with Deaf-Blindness and students who are English Speakers of Other Languages. Brianna uses English, ASL, and Spanish in her instruction as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Her goal has always been to work at FSDB and it is a dream come true to reach this achievement! 

Rebecca Garcia-Mullins

Becky was born and raised in Miami. She has Cuban blood in her! Becky is happily married and loves being a mom to two boys who are CODAs. She’s currently living in Palm Coast. Becky loves to go on vacations somewhere in nature so she can hike and enjoy nature. She also loves to go to the beach, and spending time with her husband, sons and family aka The Village. She is excited to be working with deaf ELL students and to be a part of the FSDB family. 

One of her favorite quotes is, “Positive thoughts breed positive results. Surround yourself with good vibes and watch your life flourish.”

Cristina was born in Spain where her family learned she was a deaf baby.  The family moved to the USA for her education.  She lived in Miami, Florida most of her life until a few years ago when she moved to Palm Coast, Florida.  She enjoys being around children.  She has three beautiful CODAS. She loves to cook and do arts.  She enjoys talking with different people from around the world and believes individual culture is beautiful.

Rabssy was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She moved to Florida with her family when she was 13 for a better education, where she attended FSDB! She is grateful to back and working with ELL students since she was involved with the ESOL program when she was in middle school. Rabssy lives with her husband, three kids, and three dogs at home. 

Homero Gadea

Homero Gadea

Language Facilitator-Spanish

Originally from Managua, Nicaragua, Homero holds a university degree in Civil Engineering, as well as a postgraduate degree in Risk and Insurance Management and a technician as an insurance advisor. In his 14 years of work experience, Homero has worked in the construction sector, property insurance claims and as a virtual teacher. He is married and has a 7 year old son. 

He likes listening to music, taking photographs, watching television series based on real events and learning about autism. 

Alla Rekshan

Written Translator-Russian/Ukrainian

Originally from St Petersburg, Russia, Alla has degrees from North-Western State Medical University and Business School OMIS. She worked for over 10 years in the public health field. Alla moved to the US in 2004. She practices a healthy lifestyle, leading by example at FSDB; she bicycles to work daily, swims in the ocean frequently after work and promotes proper nutrition by growing organic vegetables in the Blind High School garden/greenhouse! In addition to maintaining a stress-free mindset, Ms. Rekshan loves classical music, using humor and being around philosophizing cats.
